As a gaming elder statesman myself, I would point you to Xbox Live Arcade and Community Games to start with. You get to try them out for free to see if you like them and there is a more ''retro'' feel to many of those games that you'll feel comfortable with. That is until you get your gaming chops back. Have fun.Older gamers...
Haha, I can relate to this! First machine was a ZX Spectrum way back in 1983 or something so I've been gaming for a while...
These days with work, kids and general family 'stuff', the only time I get to play games is generally late in the evening. Probably spend no more than five or six hours a week these days. A sad state of affairs! And the problem is that if I reach a difficult part in a game and get stuck, I might not play that game for another four or five days. Which generally means I'm still stuck, get bored, want to play something else! Try to play a broad range of games but total noob when it comes to online gaming, something I am preparing to rectify...
I'm in the same boat as you. In fact, my daughter is graduating high school next week. Play maybe 10 hours a week, but it varies based on how much time my obligations take.Luckily, we're not alone. There are plenty of groups out there. I belong to union right here on Gamespot called Mature Gamers Unite. And there are plenty of groups outside of this site like TheMarriedGamers, GeezerGamers, GamerDadsLive, 2Old2Play just to name a few.

I have 2 kids and so I play only about an hour a day some times less. I tend to stick to online multiplayer because you can jump in and play a few games then leave. I got my son playing Halo when he was 3 and he is pretty good now (I supervise him online). When I play single player and get stuck I leave it for a while and play online. I have alot of games but the last one I played to the end was Dead Space. I am away from my family for the next month on a course so I intend to catch up on alot of my games. Then again I did just buy Red Faction......
i'm 21 if u say i'm an older gamer. i played nintendo entertainment system. i play like 2-3 hours a day. i have a summer job now so i usually work 8 hours and ihave nothing to do the night.
I am only 18, but I have been playing games since I was about 5 or 6... I don't have a job, I am going on to another College course in September so I get a lot of time to play games, to be honest. I mainly play First Person Shooters these days... not that I hate because I obviously like them, but I have to say there isn't much variety these days so it isn't a surprise to say that.
Im not really old (Im 23) but have been gaming for over 18 years, have a 5 year old son and a job. My sons mom and I are no longer together, I get my son every weekend, pick him up on Friday evenings, and keep him until Sunday afternoon, then leave for work when I drop him off. I work out of town so I leave Sunday afternoon, and get back Friday evening. So the only time I really play games is when my son falls asleep, so I might get to play an hour or two on Friday and Saturday nights.
I'm in my 30s and have no family but do have a career that can be very demanding at times :( I play 2-3 hours a couple nights during the week, alittle more on the weekends.I find myself mostly playing shooters and more simpler games like burnout, and beat em ups like MARVEL:UA. I try to get into more time consuming stuff like fallout and mass effect, but they've been really difficult for me to figure out. I played the hell out of Baldur's Gate 2 Shadows of Amn and WOW a few yrs ago.

I still have two NES's and if you mess with them right they'll still work. I love the original Tecmo Bowl and still play it and other games.
An older gamer is one with a family whom he has to support. In my opinion, of course.
Recently, my gaming's been at most 10 hours a week, in the evenings after work. The weekend's for other hobbies.
