As long as the game has a dedicated server, then yes, or am I completely wrong? I hear this is how MAG will work, and the lack of such in games like COD is why games often end when the host leaves the game. This might be a stupid question, but can ...
ya, its entirely possible a dedicated server would be ideal
It can do it but there isn't game for 360 that does 200+ players yet (I think).
yes, if it has a dedicated server for live. the 360 and ps3 are pretty much have the same hardware to them.

Yes I am quite sure it is just a difference case.....
As others said it is a matter of servers. I am kind of wary on those since once the game is out for awhile and less ppl play it, will they keep the servers up??
I can't imagine any reason why it couldn't...

You're welcome.
I don't know if it is still coming to the Xbox 360, but I believe it was APB which may have 200+ players online? not sure if it was though, I forgot... but I can tell you that Frontlines: Fuel Of War has up to 60 players online and Colin McRae: DiRT has 100 players in one room (but that don't really count... well it does but you can't see any other cars and it just adds all of the players' scores up at the end... I guess some people could say it counts and some may say it doesn't...
Yea it's possible. I'm looking forward to MAG on PS3.
You guys are forgetting 1 vs 100. 47,000 people playing at once. Though the game is simple, it can do more than 200 at one time.

I think he was thinking shooters.

Maybe, but he didn't specify. The 360 can support more than 200 players on single game. In a shooter is a different question.

I think it could if it had good dedicated servers. Can't think of any reason why it couldn't.
No there isn't, and the only games involving very large numbers of people will be very basic games that don't rely on very fast reactions - which rules out shooters. A simple quiz game like 1v100 will be fine because all you will do is sit there doing nothing for a while, then a question pops up and you have 10secs to answer it. You don't need to know where the player is, his speed, direction, weapons or anything, and this cuts down the amount of data that needs to be sent.
MAG is out trying to grab the headlines, but look at what you are seeing - you aren't seeing 256 players - they might be shown on the map, but you cannot see them all while playing. What you see is a small section of the battlefield with the 32 people in your area. Each group fights their area in the overall meta game that has all the listed players.
By far the biggest limitation is bandwidth, not just of the server hosting, but of each person connected to it. The more people you have with weak connections the more problems with lag you will get.
